Staring down at her shoes, she mumbled softly, "Promises... just aren't meant to last."
"Hm? Why such a sudden statement?" he prodded, leaning towards her and ever so slightly invading her personal space. Her lids fluttered, for once again he asked the right questions, a quality about him that he was never aware of. She could no longer be tactful like moments before.
"It's something you said... I didn't think that the only way for us to meet again would be like this..." Her hands gestured to the current situation as they sat down at the nearest bench, "While crossing paths in the park."
He stared back at her, eyes clear but brows brought close together. Multiple expressions danced across her face as she struggled to phrase her honest thoughts. The pause between them lengthen, but just as he used to, he waited for her to elaborate.
Finally she spoke, "You promised... didn't you? To keep in contact with me. And I thought that our wanderlust was something that linked us together... that apparently couldn't sustain our conversations. It sounds obsessive to say that I wish that we could talk all day. But that's exactly how I feel..." Gasping and eyes widened, she swiveled away from him. Realising that it sounded like she wished for more between them.
